Baby Shower

We are preparing for a brand new addition to our family, Harley Ryan Holmes. Today, we had a baby shower for my sister.
Of course, the only picture we could with Brooklyn looking descent.... was one with food in her mouth!
I had the cake and my mom helped me make cake pops! So good, I could 50!

The hostess' purchased her glider and ottoman and the family purchased the crib and bedding. Preparing for this shower was by far the most stressful adventure I have had in a long time! I purchased the glider, crib, and bedding 1 to 2 months in advance. The bedding was placed on back order, so I knew it wouldn't arrive on time. However, the glider and bedding came two weeks before the shower. I go to open the glider and it's broken. So, I had to send it back! They promised it would arrive before the shower. I had Richard check the crib and he said that it looked fine. However, The day before the shower, when I go to set it up! It is broken, too! I stay on the phone for almost 45 min trying to find a crib some where in the Houston area, but to no avail! So, I shed a few tears and finally give up! I have resigned to give my sister nothing for her shower! I had planned so much and it was ALL for nothing!!! The only ray of hope was when I got home, I found a brand new glider sitting on my front porch! Wow, that was a blessing that was greatly needed!
The Lord always knows when to provide at the perfect time!

Thank you, to all the hostesses who helped throw such a wonderful shower for my sister and new little Harley Ryan!

Of course, she has a cracker in hand! I swear she ate the entire plate by herself!

Funder

Today, we were on our way home from Nana and Papaw's we stopped at McDonald's for a drink. While waiting in line the STORM, decided to rain down on us! While in the car we watch lightning strike and thunder roll!
Brooklyn says, "Whut's dat?"
 I reply, "Lightning".
She repeats "White-ning".
Next, she says "Whut's dat?" and I reply, "Thunder".
 She repeats, "Fun-der"!
Oh, the JOY of watching "White-ning" and hearing "Fun-der"

Plumber

Our dishwasher decided to bite the dust, so we hand washed dishes for two weeks! We finally decided a dishwasher was worth the money! Richard put in the dishwasher and Brooklyn was is assistant.

Unfortunately, the assistant kept messing with the master plumber! Daddy's belly was so much fun to poke at!

At one point, Brooklyn bent over and the perfect plumber's crack appeared. After, we took the picture, we felt like the worst parents ever! But boy was it funny!

After a hard days work, Brooklyn received a new castle!

Our new dishwasher is spectacular! It actually cleans dishes and keeps the water in the dishwasher. It is so quiet, I often forget whether or not I did the dishes! Our old dishwasher sounded like the Aliens from War of the Worlds! It was so loud that we couldn't watch TV when it was running!

Visiting the Rainforest

Today, we visited the Rainforest at Moody Gardens. We forgot our camera at home and had to use Richard's phone. I was surprised how well the pictures turned out!

The first part of the exhibit was the view from the Tree Top Canopy. We saw the entire Rainforest from the viewpoint of a bird or monkey.

The next part was the Butterfly enclosure.

As soon as we walked in a butterfly landed on Richard and refused to fly away!
We didn't want to kill it, by touching it, but when we finally shook his shorts hard enough the butterfly decide to hangout on his leg. Brooklyn kept cracking up laughing at the silly butterfly!

Not only were there many different types of animals, but also many beautiful types of flowers. Orchids of every shade and variety where found all over the entire exhibit!

At one point, Brooklyn kept complaining how hot she was! "It's too hot!" It was 94.5 in the rainforest! Where has she been ALL summer, especially if she thinks that 95 is too hot!

See ya later, Tree Frog!

Potty Training

We are currently working on Potty Training!!! Oh, the fun!!
Brooklyn is 2 years and almost 4 months.

We bought her an Elmo and Friends potty cover. She is really good about going to the potty when make her sit there, but not so good about telling us she needs to go!
